Bio
Hello dear translator community!
My name is Martina and I'm a
Vienna-based translator and interpreter for German, English, French, and
Italian, specializing in patents, electrical and mechanical engineering
and Life Sciences.
My freelance journey took off in 2021 while still
studying at university. There, together with my dear colleague Franz
Pöchhacker, I conducted research on Video Remote Interpreting in
doctor-patient interactions. Consequently, I was invited to speak about
our findings at the 2020 EACH conference, to consequently publish a
paper in "Patient Education and Counseling"
(https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pec.2021.08.024), and to contribute a chapter
to an anthology
(https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/edit/10.4324/9781003267867/interactional-dynamics-remote-interpreting-esther-de-boe-jelena-vranjes-heidi-salaets).
If you want to know more about that, feel free to get in touch with me
anytime. I am always happy to chat about the newest technology changes
in the language industry!
Meanwhile, I successfully got my master's
degree in Translation and Conference Interpreting. At the same time, as a
freelancer, I have gained a lot of valuable experience in the
translation industry and, in 2022, started working as a translator in a
patent attorney's firm. This is where my latest specialization, namely
patents, comes from: I translate patents every single day, using German,
English, French, and Italian. The topics range from pharmaceuticals,
chemical innovations, and new medical devices to electrical and
mechanical engineering.
My specializations include:- Patents: electrical
and mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices-
IP-related documents: trademarks, design, opposition, patent
infringement, etc.- Manuals: electrical and mechanical engineering- Life
Science and medicine: doctors' notes, clinical trials, etc.
Long story
short: I am an passionate and meticulous translator with a high-level
academic background. If you are interested in collaborating, please just
reach out to me. I am always looking for new contacts and exchanging
views on potential projects or the translation industry. If desired, I
offer an unpaid test translation up to 250 words.
I look forward to
hearing from you and to working together!
